A. Beck Plumbing & Heating Celebrates 9 Years in Business. With 25 years of experience in the plumbing and heating industry, Andy’s journey began with a four-year apprenticeship at Portsmouth’s Highbury College. Over the years, he’s gained hands-on experience in every aspect of the trade, working with a respected local business before taking the leap to start his own company.
“I’ve always had a real passion for the trade,”Andy says.“Working locally helped me build great relationships with both customers and other tradespeople, which gave me the confidence to launch A. Beck Plumbing & Heating.”
Now in its ninth year, the business has grown into a trusted local name with a team of six expert engineers and dedicated admin staff, all sharing the same values of quality workmanship, honesty, and excellent customer service.
Over the years, Andy has taken on a wide variety of projects, but one that truly stands out was being invited to take part in a BBC DIY SOS build in Southampton. The project supported a local family who had been left devastated after a rogue builder took their life savings and left their home in ruins.
“It was honestly a bucket-list moment for me,”Andy reflects.“To be able to give back, use my skills to help this family, and be part of such an emotional and meaningful project—it really reminded me why I love what I do.”
Another proud milestone was being asked to refurbish two bathrooms for the much-loved British actress Julie Walters.“It was such an honour to be trusted to work on her home. Julie was absolutely lovely – down to earth, kind, and just a joy to work with. It’s definitely one of those jobs I’ll always remember.”
As the company continues to grow, the team is excited to open its new office at Gatcombe House
“We’re really proud of how far the company has come,”says Andy.“Gatcombe House is a fantastic location with real character, and it gives us the perfect base to continue supporting our customers across Portsmouth and beyond. We’d love locals to pop in, say hello, in this next chapter.”
